It's now crunch time for the runners and riders in the race to scoop the 2013 Continental Irish Car Of The Year, as voted for and presented by the Irish Motoring Writers Association.

The long-list of thirty-odd possible entrants has been whittled down to a final 11, and they are:

BMW 3 Series
BMW 6 Series Gran Coupé
BMW M5
Ford B-Max
Kia cee'd
Kia Optima
Mazda CX-5
Mercedes-Benz M-Class
Peugeot 208
Toyota GT86
Volvo V40

A fearsomely competitive field, that. Mind you, there are one or two notable omissions. No Fiat Panda or VW Up? No Porsche Boxster or 911? Some key cars are being left out, we'd say.

Still, anyone one of those cars listed that lifts the eventual trophy will be a worthy winner, and it'll all be announced at a gala motor industry "do" on the 22nd of November.
